baby experiment #1.01: my smelly clothes

Yup, you read right. Smelly cat clothes.

Problem: LA not wanting to settle in her cot.
She falls asleep on the breast all the time and as I slowly moves to put her in her cot, she startles herself and wakes up. I used to swaddle her and that probably works better, but she is getting to big to swaddle and apparently swaddling after the first month limits her movement abilities. We definitely don't want that.

She can be gently swayed to sleep - just not by me. She probably smells the milk or the breast and likes to comfort-suck. In other words, I can't put her to sleep voluntarily. It takes more than an hour to sway and gently pat her to sleep. It didn't even take me THAT long to sleep (Lie: Yes it does, maybe it's hereditary?).

Most of the time I gave up and let her sleep on me*. This can't go on forever though, so the right thing have to be done.

Action: Putting the shirt I was wearing together with her in the cot.
Last night was the peak. I tried putting her down since 6pm and she stays asleep, alone, for less than half an hour each time. By 11pm I was going crazy, and decided to put the said item under her head.

Result: She woke up at 5.20am!
I was almost finished with my sahur when she started crying. She initially wakes up at about the same time she was born this day two months ago - with the time difference (7.14am in Melbourne!)

Verdict: Won't jinx myself, will let you know in three days!

*I know I will regret this in the future, but, confession: I love it when she sleeps on me. It hurts after a while, my wrist, my arm, my chest and her spiky hair tickles my nose, but maybe I have developed my supermom powers and became immune to it all. I actually miss it when she doesn't.

It's my first day of puasa today. I am still bleeding but it has been 60 days and apparently it's not considered nifas anymore*. I've missed 19 days of fasting that I sometimes forgot I am fasting today. I still have about 3 and a half hours to go and we'll see how I can take it with the breastfeeding.

(from here)
